Our Story

Vineyard 7 & 8 began with patience, intention, and a belief that great wine is inseparable from place.

After years of searching Napa Valley, the Steffens family found their home high atop Spring Mountain—a forty-acre estate defined by steep hillsides, volcanic soils, and elevation. Planted in the early 1980s with eight acres each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, the vineyard demanded care, restraint, and respect from the very beginning. Those same principles continue to guide everything we do today.

Founded in 1999, Vineyard 7 & 8 is named after proprietor Launny Steffens’s background in finance and his interest in numerology. Seven symbolizes perseverance; eight represents balance and prosperity. Together, they reflect the estate’s philosophy: Fall down seven times, stand up eight—a reminder that excellence is earned through commitment, humility, and time.

Vineyard 7 & 8 remains a family-run estate, focused on farming with precision and crafting wines that reflect their site and season. Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Block Six are made without chasing trends, allowing the vineyard’s voice to remain clear and uncompromised.
